Bye,but Not Bye:)

The time run very fast, the semester is ending and the English class too. As I wrote in the beginning, this activity try that students develop the grammar using different topics for discussion. My blog was an open book where I wrote my opinion and in some cases, for example Dad or Mom Come Back!, my own history about the topic that I selected. During my ten posts I noticed that every time was so easier to write and show my ideas, so this activity was perfect for practice my English skills. I recommend this activity for every person who wants develop English techniques because it is very simple and fun. In my opinion I enjoyed every post and all of them have one part of my life. I believe that I did a nice work and I hope that you enjoy my writings and feel free to comment about that in the future. This is not the end because I decided continue with this activity do not matter if my English class is done, so you can continue visiting this blog.

The Magic of the World

The world… The world is the great place that God or the Big Bang gave us and is beautiful for different reasons. In this planet we have different cultures, minds, people, weathers, continents, islands, desert, forests, rivers, seas and oceans, and other things that people can select for live. Everybody is different, and those variations inside the world help us to find our spaces here. We have people that born in Puerto Rico and do not like this culture and they prefer move to Europe or North America and their found the happiness of their families in that areas. In other cases European and North Americans families moved to Puerto Rico because they like the Caribbean weather and puertorrican festivities. We are free to select our country and place where we want live, sometime is very difficult because we have family or our plan of life go to other path, but we can work with that and prepare a plan of study and work in the selected country.

We can select our religion too. Sometimes we think that our religion is the religion of our parents and is incorrect. We select our religion based in the things that we believe, because time change, point of view change and we walk in the life with different opinions. So the next time that somebody tell you that you must select the religion of your parents, you will say NO, because you has own mind and you will take the decisions of your live. Obviously our parents should teach us the things, but also that the decision is ours.

In my case I love Puerto Rico, you can find beautiful beaches around you because is an island, every beach has own magic and personal beauty. Also in Puerto Rico we have pretty forest as Yunque that is a rain forest and others as Guánica forest that is a dry forest. You can see? The world is so perfect that give us two contrary forests to select in the same island. I like my island I love their rivers, their fields and their history, but everyone loves different things and not everybody love Puerto Rico.

As me with my island, you can find your perfect place of live where you would have a family, friends, and learn about the culture. Maybe you born in a cold country, but you love the hot weather so move it! Come on! You are free to do! That is the magic of the world, give us the opportunity to select our space and live with a beautiful smile in ours faces.             

Education System, Problems and Problems

One of the most important areas in every country is the educational system, because is supposed offer every tool that the young people need for achieve success. During a lot years ago the education specifically in Puerto Rico has experienced economic problems that affect the goal of the system. This problem began with people that took funds for personal use, also political parties took money of this office for their use. Some years ago the ex-secretary of this office in Puerto Rico, Victor Fajardo was accused and served jail theft of federal funds. It is a serious problem because they played with the education and the future of these children, some people think that this argument is stupid, but is very true. If the fund exist for maintain strong the educational activities, why people took for other personal use? This money has a mission and don’t is buy personal stuff. The federal agencies are working every day to control the funds diversion and they resolved some cases of that, but are very hard to eliminate because the money buy the mind of people and they think that they can take this money for they self.

Other situation inside the educational system in Puerto Rico is the problem with the employees. Every year we heard on the TV the problem of insufficient personnel in the schools of the country. Fewer teachers, less canteens staff, less janitor personnel and this office try resolve everything the week before begin classes. The system has problems, but also can resolve some with common sense, that not a science, we can prepare a plan and use it.  The community could help also, some people say “forget that, the government is in charge” but we could do something too, it is for the future people of our country, why not? If we can a “new” Puerto Rico, with more professional people, with fewer murderers, people with new ideas and progressive in their minds, we need start now with the origin of the problem. You want a good place to live? Work for that. No wait for the movements of the government, start now and show how resolve the situation.      

Movies, Great Form to Learn

One of the best paths for forget everything and enjoy a moment is watch a movie. The people go to the theater with parents, friends and girlfriend or boyfriends and watch different movies as: comedy, drama and action, and share this especial moment that most of the times is great for everyone. Always exist topics of conversation about movies and everyone is an “expert” of Hollywood when give his opinion about the construction, actors and scene of the film. Well I will try expressing my idea that not is an expert comment, but I think that is very true.

            Beside fun, the movies can teach us some situations of the real live and how resolve, obviously every problem is different but the movie could be a guide and example. This movies don’t are Superman, Batman or something like that, movies that could help you are films that were based in real history or real histories.  What you can learn? Very easy, in the movies you can learn general things as: culture, countries and traditions. Also more specific you can learn about one time as: the seventy and eighty, the people behaviors and other thing that you want, but yes, is a good tool.

            For me, I have some movies that are book of information for my future job. I’m studying to be an officer in the U.S. Army and one of the forms to know what happened in past battles or wars is the movies. One example of that is the film “We Were Soldiers” (2002) that is a representation of a book that wrote the L.t Gen. Harold Moore and Joseph L. Galloway. They were participant of the Vietnam War and after war they prepare this book with the true history of that moment. For ROTC students films like that help us to understand the high risk that exist in every mission, the form to take decisions, the team work and keep the high moral of the unit, but the most important thing is don’t make the same error of the past. For this reason we watch different military movies and series as: “We Were Soldier”, “Saving Private Ryan”, and “Band of Brothers”.   

            As we can see the purpose of the movies isn’t only entertain, we can learn about different things that you want know, obviously the book are better for gather information, but the movies is a good form too. Don’t use any movie, use movies that express the reality of the live, movies based in true history and you will have the necessary information.        

Robert Downey Jr, the Best Actor

When you talk with somebody about celebrities always you prefer one that you love his or her songs, movies or other thing where that person express his or her talent. This person maybe is you role model, maybe you remember somebody or something when you watch his movies or listen her music, sometimes you think that this person is very similar of you. Everybody have a reason and I have one too. My favorite actor is Robert Downey Jr., why? Let me explain everything.

Downey is singer, music writer, but most people know him as an actor. He began his career with five years old in 1970 in movies that his father directed.  In the last few year his career has receive the attention of the people for the amazing movies as: two movies of Sherlock Holmes, three movies of Ironman and the new one “The Judge”. Now this is my first reason that I admire this guy. Sherlock Holmes is a detective movie where you can use your imagination and enjoy the adventure of the movie. Young and old people can enjoy of this movie and I know of families that share time seeing this film. The next movie “Ironman”, for me is the best superhero of the Avengers, is a nice movie for kids, young and old people too where you can see destructions, fights and the hero saving the world. In an interview some time ago Downey said that “Ironman” is the easiest character that he did, because in the reality he is like Tony Stark (the character of Ironman) and every scene when he eat some snacks is not part of the movie but his act natural and the director accept the scene. You can believe??  That awesome! Now in the new movie “the Judge” we can see other face of Downey. In this film he is a lawyer and his father is accusing of murder so is a serious film, but his actuation was perfect and that is my point. Robert Downey Jr.  is a perfect actor that can do some types of character don’t matter what.

Other point of his life that I don’t accept, but is example of overcoming is his problems with drugs. From 1996 to 2001 Downey had some problems with: valium, heroin and cocaine but eventually went to jail for illegal possession of weapons. When he came back of the jail he began a new life and participated in some of good movies of this period. 

This are my reasons, a guy like you or me, with problems and situations that can overcome and maintain his career in Hollywood where do different characters and types of movies. For me Robert Downey Jr. is the best example overcome.                

Internet for Childrens

The Internet is one of the most important media of this time and is a great tool if is used correctly. In the last years some companies had presented some equipment for use the Internet, for example: cellphones, computers, tablets, and other devices for the people, young or older, can enjoy of this tool. As other tools, some people use the Internet for pay the bills, buy something, make homework, share information with others and read news. In general, the internet is a necessary tool in the life of everybody, but what really happen?    

The people that born in the last two decades, born with the Internet and know a lot or everything about that. This creates an “advantage” over older people who are not very skilled. But is really an “advantage”? In the last years we saw a lot of cases of people that contact boys or girls and abuses of them. This person use Internet platforms as Facebook, twitter and instagram for achieve communication with the victim. Some federal agency work for eliminate this problem, but the most important thing here is the responsibility of the father or mother with the children. Also some movies express this problem and the hard situations that create in the families; one example is the movie “Trust”.

Please people. If you have a children and he or she need a computer for do something, you as a father or mother, can observe the activities. Is very important talk with their about that and express the reality of the social networks and other page as chats. Sometimes parents give a cellphone or computer because is cool have one, but this children maybe don’t have the knowledge for do the correct things. Don’t accept that the internet teach your children the thing that you should teach. Obviously you can use the internet for teach your son or daughter, because in this case you show her or him the good things and the correctly form of use the internet. I’m not an expert, but that is common sense, protect your children of something bad. The world is very hard for this young people and we can do something for protect them.               

The Seriousness of Marriage

The life consists in hard, difficult, good and bad moments, and other things that always we can resolve with responsibility and seriousness. An example we can talk about is the marriage, what is the marriage? The marriage is a socially or ritually recognized union or legal contact between two persons, where they have new obligations and rights between them, if the person has children that create other responsibility inside the marriage.  In Puerto Rico I have seen de lack of seriousness that some people have with the marriage. They accept the marriage, but not the responsibility.  It’s very easy accept the word, but not the really meaning.  I understand that “errors” or “experiences” occur, but Puerto Rico is the second on the divorces rates in the world with 4.5 divorces per 1,000 people. This numbers explain one thing, some people of this island don’t show responsibility, respect and seriousness that need the marriage. The divorces situations in Puerto Rico are very serious because exist cases where one person attack his or her couple in a fight. In other cases the children can see the physical and psychological abuse inside the house.  You need prepare for enter in a relationship and the marriage.

Don’t go to a relationship or marriage for necessity; take your time to understand everything and you decide.  Obviously the first step in a marriage is the love, but not is all, you should meet very well the other person, accept his or her culture, religion, errors and everything of his or her personality.  It’s the most important step in the personal develop of everybody, so if you don’t feel secure don’t do that. If you accept and you don’t prepare for the marriage, you could affect the other person, if you have children could affect them and you could affect yourself.  The people should be responsible and serious when you take the decision, because is supposed to be for life, not for some time or until other woman or men appear.  The people need learn about the seriousness of the marriage, of this form we can avoid some abuse case in the families where people are affected including children. Everything can resolve with learn about that and have good communication.       

 

       

What Is the Best Religion?

For many years the fight between different religions have increased and created the question about what is the best religion for the people in the world.  Since the beginning of the civilization on the earth, the people have believed in something supernatural that believe and support because exist faith.  In this point every religion are “same”, but could change with a little addition, if you believe in one or more gods. For example the Roman Empire lived the transition between polytheistic to monotheistic religions that was very difficult for the people understand the change, but with time the Christian religion prevailed for the power that had.  That movement changed everything that the people knew and began the confusion that in some years created the heresies, that are different form of believe in god.  If you think that is very hard to understand the religions topic you don’t see everything, with the creation of religions began the fanatic people that try convert the people to his religion, other than see the religion as a business where the people give their money for achieve God.  As other thing on this world have good and bad thing and we decide the path that we want take.     
 

Now the people is questioning by own self if his or her religion is the correct or the best, but the reality is that every religion that give you the opportunity of growing up as a person and give you the tools for live in peace with the other people around you is the best for you. Obviously we need have careful with the people who steal money and deceive the participant for personal gain. As a person that really want participate in some religion, my recommendations are read and learn about the different religions, decide your religion, don’t accept that others told you what will be you religion, assist to the church or the place of the religious activity and see the protocol and the ceremony, meet people of different religion and their experiences, but you always decide.  You decide what the best religion for you, the important thing here is believe on something.     

War If Is an Abuse!

When you talk with somebody about war the first thing that this person maybe said: “Oh that very bad, people die, mothers cry and divided family”. Everything is true, but anybody think that wars sometimes are necessary for the reason of maintain the control and security of a defenseless population. Few days ago I listened and read about the situation of the Islamic States and the United States where President Obama talked about the situation and said that the U.S. will not put ground troops in that zone, but they will attack the Islamic States with air strikes and will support the country that fight against the Islamic States. Now the people start saying: “Why the United States went there?” “Other war damn it!” and other things that I listen in this moments, but only few people think about the situation of this population. Is fine if the trouble is between soldiers and anymore, but this situation is different, these groups killed civilians as old people, women, kids and journalists. The U.S doesn’t accept these actions and the people should support this campaign for stop the abuse.

I think that this new conflict we should see as a form to help people, without party, without religions or other things that you can see badly inside the war. As an “advanced, educated and civilized population” we can’t accept these activities because it would be a lack of humanity and sensitivity allow this abuse. I understand that wars are not the perfect solution for everything and are very hard for families at home, but if these defenseless people call to U.S. for help, we can do something for the peace in this country. I really hope that when President Obama takes other decision of helping some country, the people don’t talk so selfish and understand that if we can help we will. We should demonstrate that we are civilized people that can help, not selfish people that only think about when the U.S. helps us.

The Fear of Die Alone

                                                                                
The people born, live and die, it’s a life law, but exist groups of people that feel scare of die alone. Obviously the people want live, we feel free to do something and enjoy the life in the form that the person decides, but the death is the only thing sure in this world. Some people avoid this topic and they say “I don’t care, I lived a perfect life, good cars, excellent wife and sons, and so is fine for me when the hour comes”. This people enjoy families, share time with them and seen this topic as a natural thing. But exist a difference between the people that see this topic as natural and the people that not, the different thing is the family support that this person receive. This support is a high relevant in the moment when the old person think about death this action can change the future years of this person.      

One of the causes for the people think fear of die alone is the divorces of couples, where depending the cause of divorce, the family divided and the kids don’t share with one of them. I talk about that because in my family occurred with my grandparents where they divorced after 30 years of marriage. The situation was the most common thing that occurs between couples, the adultery. This family problem was very hard for my father and my uncles because saw my grandmother in a depression and they had working with her. The time passed and my grandmother spent the page and followed her life, but my grandfather lost strong contact with his sons. One year ago my grandfather called his sons and said they that he had fear of die alone because don’t have couple and he feel that his sons don’t care his situation. My father and my uncles felt preoccupation for this situation and started shared time with him, they don’t accept the actions of my grandfather, but they accept for helped to avoid the feeling of him.

This situation is very common in Puerto Rico and others countries and create that the people feel alone and when are old people feel that they die without a person that can share feelings as, happiness and epics moments. Bad decisions in the life can create this feeling that anybody want, because anybody want die alone.           

Dad or Mom Come Back!

Some situations are very hard for people because don’t understand why occur and when some persons of the family are involved is too much difficult. As other situations or problems, the solutions coming and there start the happy moment of the family. Happiness is a perfect feeling; the people start smile, laugh, run and cry when feel the magic of that moment. One example of this are: the military personnel come back home. That moment is very emotional and very happy for the family, especially when the kids see their fathers.    

 The first step before happiness is when the phone ring and you listens your father, mother or other person that you love say: “Ok I will go now” you know that something is not good and this person have go for some reason. In this moment begin the bad feelings, some people ask, the kids cry and you think that is the end of the world. You don’t understand why you lovely person is sent to other country to do something that maybe other person can do. Sometimes you understand, but you don’t accept that this person go to make a high risk work because is your father and you want stay with him.

The second step before happiness is the preoccupation if this person is fine, if he or she will call to home that night and others things that create a high level of stress. It’s normal because you want know the situation of the person and you don’t care the problem that that person try resolve you want know about him or her. The tears continue and the prayers are much longer each time.

Finally the happiness appear, you lovely person appears and you see him, run, jump, rise your arms  and give to him a strong hug that express everything that you can say, but don’t can because you cry for the emotion. Now these tears are creating for happiness, is the magic of that. It’s something that a lot people have lived and understand me, maybe other people don’t see much happiness here, but when you lived the situation, you say “It’s my best happiness moment of my life”.

Hello, my name is José Berríos, I live in Puerto Rico and I want to explain what this activity is. The technology is a great tool that helps the communication between people. While the years spend the number of users and utilities increase, creating a new style of send information everywhere. In my class of English at University of Puerto Rico at Cayey my professor Iara Segarra use the technology as educational tool for develops the writing and reading of us in an environment that we recognize and love. In this case we use a blog with educational purpose for this class, where I write about some topics and we can share ideas or discuses about them. The topics are varied and popular for example: war, marriage and movies, with the purpose of create a great interaction with the people that read this blog. I hope that the people enjoy and support the activity.
